f/on from mollassed chaff thread...

Meant a handful of pony nuts!! If the pretty pink bag encourages a little girl to feed her pony something healthy what is the problem?

I'm glad the feed companies might be catching on that lower calorie/sugar might be a winner and people would like to buy it, just a bit random that it seems to have come out in this pink princess form!

Honestly I was reading the ingredients when I first saw it and thought, hmm this might actually be the best thing here for what I want... Says a lot about the choice available really doesn't it.

I think what people are missing is that this isn't "just" a chaff; its designed as a complete feed with RDA vit & mins when fed at the recommended levels.Exactly the same way that their Healthy Tummy is designed.

They are more like your Winergy or pure feeds than a chaff like hi-fi etc

Despite the cutesy packing its not a ' bad' feed given the calorie, sugar and starch contents. Alfalfa is generally mixed with chopped straw as the latter is low in protein.

Interesting I might swap from the dengie good doer to this as the sugar content is lower and so is the DE but as one bag of good doer normally last 5 months as I only use a handful to mix in with supplements and I have nearly a full bag it will be a while before I can try it.

It has less sugar than HI Fi Lite which is approved by the laminitis trust which is 7% sugar and 1.5% starch.

Found this on their facebook page

Forget-Me-Not Farm Complete Chaff combines chopped and pelleted straw with a sprinkling of alfalfa, oil, molasses and a vanilla flavour with added vits and mins. It's a complete feed, so when fed at the recommended levels of 500g per 100kg bodyweight, no additional vits and mins are needed. It provides 6.5MJ/kg Digestible energy, 5% sugar and 2.5% starch

How does the sugar/starch content compare to hi fi?
