Well we have a donkey show at Rod this weekend so there are donkeys everywhere. All the horses have been going nuts with the donkeys in the spare stables and terrible when they bray
crazy.gif
However took Pidge over to see them as he was fascinated and he has been golden
grin.gif
not stressed by them whatsoever, whereas Sunny has done a million poos and a million circuits of the box and was very hyper indeed
blush.gif
Helped sis tack up a hyper Sunny and then did Pidge and went for a lovely hack.
So a much better day today and I'm very proud to have a horse that is not bothered with donkeys at all
grin.gif
So seeing as he is in the minority does anyone else's horse not mind donkeys?

Hen has never encountered them, so I have no clue! Although sheep scare the living daylights out of him, so I can imagine him being disturbed by donkeys!
He is very sensitive to noise too, so their brays would send him skywards me thinks! He hates the noise that the chicken make, difficult when we have to hack past a free range chicken farm, with hundreds of the dam things!

merlin loves donkeys - he has made friends with some up the road from us!

he gets very cross if we do not go and visit them when we go hacking
tongue.gif
he throws a major strop and tries to nap back to them!

If he doesn't like sheep I don't think he'll like the donkeys especially when they start braying......... Ooh you're hacking sounds entertaining

TBH I don't think Pidge had seen any before as last night after lesson he grew to about 18 hands
tongue.gif
he had a good look when they set off braying but then just settled and ate his haylage
grin.gif
some of the horses have just been done in the field to avoid coming into the stable block

Ooooh I just remembered Hen has met Donkeys!! Richard Ashcroft's (of The Verve fame!) Donkeys live in the field next door to his summer grazing!! So not only has he met Donkeys, he's met famous (by proxy!) ones!!
grin.gif

He didn't seem bothered by them, although I didn't see him when they first appeared or made a noise!
YM said every year at least one of her horses falls in love with the donkeys!
grin.gif

Hacking round us is VERY interesting, apart from the chickens, we've met a deer head on and been attacked by a badger, and foxes regularly watch me do my canter work!!

brill another horse who loves donkeys - Pidge was trying to say hello to one of them and snuffling his back and the donkey was so not impressed, poor Pidge
frown.gif

LOL at the thought of Merlin throwing a strop at not being allowed to say hello to the donkeys

We have a lovely big hilly field to gallop in, was just walking round, warming up, when I noticed a badger (at 4pm!!) snuffling around. Was far enough away to think we'd be ok to sneak past, but when we got level the bl00dy thing turned and ran at Hens ankles growling!!
shocked.gif
It didn't make contact, but it scared the cr@p out of poor pony!!
Hen would have sent it skywards at a rate of knots if it had bitten him though, he doesn't cope well with small animals around his feet!!!

That'll be the Donkey Breed Society Championship Show, so donks for two days.

Our cob loves donks, he has no choice with four here! Strangely, one of my donks seems scared of horses, although she loves ours!!
