I'm sure many of you will have read that Bruce hadn't been feeling himself as of late. Pleased to report that he is back on form!!! He is now getting propell in his evening feed and has a slight abundance of energy from it - he looks really happy with himself again :)

A couple of users suggested he was unhappy because he had been dressed up in pink matchy....;)......and that I should try him in baby blue which is much more manly......

Getting royally bogged off in Medium Canter with Mr Energy:

He has been improving all week, but between Thursday and Friday the improvement was huge :) Coincidence.....maybe!!

Made the decision to deffo go to Vale View this Saturday, just for practice (it wasn't a qualifier or anything, but we both needed to get out after 7 weeks off!). Late times, and a quiet one again with only 3 people (including myself) in the Elementary classes (E44 & E49). So, it was a fairly chilled day - butterflies in my stomach aside...!!! (I apologise for bad quality pics, think our camera is on the way out!)

Warm up:

Entered in a medium trot, really getting him between my hand and leg. Even though I've done E44....how many times?! IDIOT BLOODY JOCKEY went wrong. ARGH!! Instead of medium trot up the long side, I went across the diagonal....it was a good one too!! Bah. Rest of the test was lovely, and I really 'rode' all the way through.

E49:

He was a little tired by this stage, but I let him show it - hold my hands up to that one. I could have done more and picked him up more and pushed him on. But still, he tried his heart out for me and I actually smiled pretty much all the way through, instead of gurning lol.

Results - E44 3rd (out of 3....so yes last... ;) ) with 62.8% which I thought unjust and that he deserved more although obvs I went wrong once d'oh....think 2nd place was on 65.something% which I DEFFO did not agree with....but nevermind. E49 2nd (out of 3 people, just to clarify.... ;) ) with 64.33%. Think the marks should have been the other way round!! Bit confused about some of the scores......and not entirely sure why some of them aren't starting to turn into 8's instead of being a steady 7.... but plenty more time to grow and an experience to take a lot from. Because next time we head out, I know I can ask for even more from him!

Well done, he looks gorgeous! It wouldn't let me 'like' the pics on fb :( stoopid fb!

Glad the propel is making a difference, it certainly made my horse that was a bit flat and meh into a naughty little $od again!!

Well done :) xx

I knew the blue would sort it! Glad he is feeling energetic again.

He is looking SUPER in the pics, I really like 5 & 7. Well done on your % I know you didn't win but 60's are good for Elem aren't they?

(pat on the back to Trainer-in-the-corner ;) )

Can I just say that no photo does justice to Bruce's tail  It is even more amazing in the flesh, even when spotted from across a car park as it disappears around a corner! :D

Glad he is feeling more like himself again and what do Dressage Judges know anyway ;) :D

excellent good to hear he is on fine form.....can i just ask is that a mullen nathe you have as your bradoon? I am experimenting and thinking of a nathe as bradoon as she prefers it as a snaffle.

Glad he's back on form, looking gorrrrrgeous at usual :D wonder if I print out your photos and paste them around Baileys stable he'll get the idea? Slightly lackluster at vale BD today, felt like i'd done a full workout in a sauna by the time we'd finished  he did manage a yellow frilly in the novice 30 though which i guess is some compensation

Yeahhhh go Nikki and Bruce :) Fab results after 7 weeks although I cant believe they only gave a 7 for the halt!! I must admit i do feel better about forgetting my Prelim now :p Glad to know flakey brain hits us all at some stage hehe ... Ps, I am a phantom liker on FB ... sometimes :p

It is a jointed happy mouth. You can't use a mullen as a bradoon as it doesn't leave much tongue room!! Bruce prefers plastic snaffle and plastic bradoon. Nathe do do a jointed bradoon snaffle - they are expensive though!!!

Woo woo go the Bruce!! Not so much me, can't BELIEVE I forgot where I was going, dolt! I went 'BALLS' really loudly when I got beeped as I realised straight away.... Halts were perfect, no dribbling in and out of them, no legs left out etc etc ..... Grr!!

my horse likes the expensive stuff lol. She is a pain and plays too much with jointed snaffle - to point of lolling tongue out grrrrr. So will look at the nathe jointed bradoon see how much movement it has. cheers :)

Fantastic news :) Well done, looking as fabulous as ever! I have just tried my boy on Topspec turbo to give him a bit more oopmh but it just seems to have a created a monster in every single corner :( Perhaps I had better try propell.
The scoring is the one thing I don't like about dressage. At least with SJ you either have a pole down or not and go quick- or not. BD is so much better than unaffil but you still seem to get some frustrating random marking at times :(However, I do have to admit I am getting more and more hooked! Loving the baby blue by the way :D

Yes - it's very judgemental scoring. Esp if there is a name of person involved.....!!! BD is much more consistent I agree but there is always the oddball BD judge out there who will quash all your hopes as with unaff too!!

I think it must have def been a virus then!

He looks loads better, love the first pic :D and Well Done!

Love your sig pics too, can we see the full size ones pls? :p

Yes it seems that way, will keep him on the propell as it has given him more oomph and I'm willing to compensate energy with getting towed off in my mediums - luckily they are more controlled in the ring!! I would post them but I fear I would bore some people :o

Brucey looks lovely :)

Such a coincedence that is where you went wrong. Yesterday lunchtime I was talking with my friend about tests I always go wrong in an she said 'Every bl00dy time I do E44 I do medium canter across the diagonal instead of up the damn long side!!' <<< Not only you :)

He looks much ,much better I Love the first warm-up picture, you look soft in your riding in this one, therefore so does he! and ten out of ten for the bandaging looks better this time.
