Ok so some back story first. I had COVID-19 in June, floored me. I’ve been left with terrible fatigue and joint inflammation and for a while I was having swollen sore legs so was taking precautions for clots. Still suffering horribly but back at work and trying to move forwards.

So this was a big weekend for me back showing the wee guy. Needless to say he was a star and did me proud.

Took him to a local cattle show on Saturday and he came home with a 4th in a strong Mixed M&M class. Three lovely adult horses in front of him ? Then in a mixed Youngstock class he was pulled second ?

I was really chuffed but unfortunately my fatigue and pain got the better of me and I couldn’t stay for the champs. We had been there since 9am and it was going 4pm at this point also he was showing the next day.

So hood on leg wraps on tail protector and rug in and back home and tucked in for the night with a big bed and loads of hay and his dinner. He was very confused as normally he travels home nekkid and goes straight from the trailer to the field ? I drove home, had some food, a shower, loads of painkillers and various pain relieving gels (I can’t take any antiflams) and went to bed.

Up again the next day to do a Silver Welsh Medal show and I could hardly move. More painkillers and gels and some gentle stretching and off I go to get the wee guy sorted. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do two days in a row running and I’d had been told that really I’m too short to run Faran in the proper Welsh fashion so I enlisted the help of my best male friend and mixed doubles partner ( we have both had about three years off any sort of training or play so no judgement ?) who is 6ft2 to run him for me. He’s not horsey, has never shown a horse before and well he did it brilliantly and handled Faran so well!

Id entered Faran in the Welsh D 2/3yr old Filly/Gelding class and it was a good strong class. He came third and also won best gelding! I was so proud of him and my friend who showed him off really well! Waited for the gelding trophy class. Again both of them did me proud but it was a really strong class and the winners and reserve were well placed.

All in all a good weekend and one that might just finish off Farans summer showing season as the weekend has made me realise I’m just not up to it just now. In so much pain and the fatigue is horrible. However a great weekend and I can’t wait to order some of the lovely protog pics that are available ?

here are some of my pics from the weekend

Saturday. Not many pics I’m afraid ? I was very stressed and anxious so didn’t take many.

What Faran was most interested in, his feed at the end of the show ? I always give him a sloppy feed at the end of a show.

He looks stunning, congrats on the rosettes. I hope your health continues to improve so you are able to enjoy more shows together in the future!

Thanks you I hope so too as one going to have a busy spring getting the wee guy proper backed and hacking so I hope it doesn’t linger ??

He looks gorgeous, and with a kind face as well. I can see why you are so proud of him. I hope your symptoms go away soon.

Thank you ? he is such a cool dude and has made me a proud horse mum for behaving as he did with my friend.

Sorry to hear you are still struggling a lot, but well done on your success this weekend. He's matured into a really lovely horse.

Thank you ? I can’t believe he’s the little foal I brought home three years ago ❤️

I have a friend who is suffering from long covid - it's horrible what it can do, so I hope you start to improve soon. Although I think your friend looks like he would really enjoy being a handler again, and having his photo taken, and being put on this thread, so we can swoon :D

He's looking fab! Your probably going to shoot me for this but his tail needs more feathering and less banging ?? but if you don't plan on showing again this season then is doesn't make a jot of difference ?

I had a couple of Shetlands at the Welsh show. It's the first time I have been to that venue and I was not overly impressed and wouldn't be in a hurry to go back but the show itself was very well run by lovely people!

I know don’t worry ? He had rubbed a whole load of it out so I couldnt take much more or he wouldn’t have had much of a tail ? it wasn’t banged I just couldn’t feather much more. The amount of gel and hairspray that I was leathering on the spiky bits to keep them down was a bit OTT ?

SWPCA are normally on the long shot of the old race course but I’m not sure if it was because the council wasn’t allowing it or other reasons. The parking at the equi centre isn’t great as it’s a public site. I arrived at about 11.30 and had to drive round for a while to find a place to park, ended up having to squeeze next to some other trailers.

Some folk were taking the piss with space and had picnic tables and cones out taking up space round their lorries. I nearly took out one as they had out their picnic table full of food complete with seats on the road part of the car park. Hey Ho horse shows for you lol ??‍♀️

how did you get on???

We left just after 11.30am so you probably took our space ? My yearling was 2nd as he was being a toad and my mare won which I was more than happy with.
