First sign of trouble was when I popped into college for lunch yesterday and spotted the Fellows dinner table being set. A grand total of 7 wine glasses per person.... So I probably shouldn't have expected a huge amount from my poor OH who naturally had to keep pace with all the other geriatrics trying to use up their remaining liver function before kicking the bucket..

However, I was mildly peeved that, despite being so hungover that he completely forgot his dressage test and the judge actually had to get out of the car TWICE to tell him what to do, he still managed to achieve a better mark than I did last time at 37. Grey horse can be quite thuggish at home but he is such a poppet out competing, just really calm and responsive and easy to ride.

Alas, this self-inflicted lobotomy continued well into the SJ where OH was looking distinctly unwell and they had 3 down - all of which can laid squarely at the rider's door because the lovely Ottie jumped out of his skin.

To crown it all, OH then managed to miss out a fence on the XC which is a great shame as they had a storming clear round otherwise and horse didn't look at a thing and was popping like an old pro - therefore elimination.

So, although a rubbish day on paper, I am chuffed beyond belief with the grey horse because he looked after OH and brought him home safe and sound - plus he loved every minute of it and considering that's his 1st ever ODE, I thought he was fabby.

I remember having an early lesson once after a ball, about 15mins in I turned green and had to be excused for a few minutes to 'visit the bathroom' fine after that!

LOL, not the best prep for your first ODE then! Much better it all went wrong on the same day though - what if he'd had a 32 dressage and clear SJ then missed out a XC fence?!

Lovely horse and lovely pics.

Hope your OH has had lots of andrews liver salts, and is feeling 'back to normal'
