The previous pics in the sequence are awesome too.
The rider's wearing legendarily mega-sticky Kerrits breeches. On COTH an American event rider wrote that she regards them as being an essential piece of her safety equipment, they call that kind of security "tight in the tack" over there.
So when I finally get out eventing again, that's what I'm definitely going to be wearing... of course I'm sure they'll make me sit just like that too! ;) ;) ;)

just had to post those because of the pics, the thought of my breeches being stuck to the saddle with the equivalent of tree-frog's ickle hands and feet is soooo cute. ;) ;)

I was a fan of rts-bentex sticky breeches but they squeak (NOT fun on a silly youngster, trust me) and the fabric is quite thick, way too much for hot summer days.

I haven't worn the Sit Tight Lites on a hot day yet, have heard they can get rather sweaty, but if the payoff is extreme stickability i'll take it... someone said on fb that they think it's impossible to get bucked off while wearing them... now THAT is what i need. ;) ;)
i'm going to get a pair of the Breathe Tight ones too, to compare. Will report back.

btw, going back to the pic, the rider's commented on the fb thread that this was the horse's first Prelim (iirc that's their equivalent of Novice)... extra WOW in that case! i can see them going a long way with that kind of enthusiasm and style...
 
I have to say, lovely bold horse, great balanced position, but imho she's approached that fence far too fast and is riding her luck somewhat :o If he'd stumbled a little on landing which had to be a possibility she would have been in big trouble at the step out...

Interesting re breeches, K, I clicked your link on FB and had a look at them they do look good and not too pricey. Will look forward to hearing more - shame they all have that contrasting seat colour, I'm a bit traditional re competition wear. Liked the look of the stock shirts in funky patterns though :)

Well, yes, maybe a bit tff on approach, but I've seen a horse launch like that from a slow approach too... wasn't it Phoebe B on a vid on here ages ago?!

I just checked and the Breathe Tight II and Breathe Tight Channel Rib II ones in what they for some unfathomable reason call Tan (but I'd call Beige) have the stickybum panels in the same colour as the rest of the fabric...

See I'd see the contrast panel as drawing attention to my bum, which, quite frankly, can't take the scrutiny :D Yes, those ones look much better but do they have the same super-sticky properties?

I still think she's too fast, I remember the Phoebe pics but it's different when they launch from a standstill, isn't it, they have that green, ballooning action and usually a slightly horrified expression on their faces ;) :eek: ::D That sequence looks like that classic American style, very natural and easy looking when it all goes right but still imho a bit chancey ;)
 
Yes, i see what you mean actually, the parabola is much flatter in a yeeeee-haaaa launch. My first reaction was 'crikey, good job that water's shallow' since I've seen horses jump in that keenly and turn over for their pains... remember 1 year at Badminton the centre jetty was 'jump on - bounce - over fence and drop back into water' and some super-bold horses ended up flat on their faces for their enthusiasm... :( :( :(

I don't think the Breathe Tight ones have the mega-sticky (and possibly sweaty) Grip-Tek, they have the slightly more comfy (if what I've read is true) but still very sticky Grip-Stretch Suede. I will report back when I get my mitts on a pair... I'm sure my horses will test out the stickyness toot sweet.
I hadn't even noticed the funky-patterned stock shirts, I obv have a sticky-bum fixation... will have a nosey. Ta.

This is why I love HHO, the photos and the eeks are acompanied by a very rational discussion of the pros and cons of the approach and potential side effects by two experienced riders.

Having watch Harry on the lunge yesterday I think I may need a pair of these super-glue johds of which you speak... :-/
