first off, HUGE congrats to one of my clients, who was 2nd in her 3rd BD novice with 70% today. She rode a cracking, forward, confident test and im just thrilled to bits for her :)

on to CS....the medium classes were bizarrely large today, 16 in M64 and 22 in M73!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
with this in mind i slightly wimped and gave him a full tube of snuff......................which had the desired effect as he sauntered in to a jam packed warm up on a long rein and beetled round perfectly calmly

warmed up exactly as i would have liked, really in front of leg and didnt think about sucking back once.

pleased to report that he felt much more confident and settled in the first test, so he remembered all about doing lateral stuff straight off, and did a very grown up test.........................shame the idiot jockey forgot not one, but BOTH 10m trot circles, doh!!!!
seriously upset afterwards as im the queen of prep prep prep and hate letting them down with such stupidity, grrrrrr.

mooched around for 15mins and then picked him back up (while going over and over the second test in my head!!!!)
again, he picked up exactly as i wanted, and TBH i slacked a bit and didnt push him, he's qual for the area festivals already at medium, and i've decided not to do the regionals at medium in any case, so today was a play day and as i felt he was really trying, i didnt push for even more.......

M73 felt lovely, forward, flowing, and confident, and i remembered where to go too!

really really super pleased, and a friend who hasnt seen him work since a 4yo said some lovely things afterwards, que huge smile.

took CS home for tea and chill time, and then whizzed back to get sheets.........................

..........................1st rest M64 and 1st overall with 66.57% (out of the 16) and then 1st rest M73 and 2nd overall with 65.65% (out of 22).

to say im over the moon is a huge understatement, so he's technically qual for the regionals at elem AND med,but as above, medium regionals at 6yo is a big ask, and not one im prepared to make of him. so he will do elem regionals and medium area festivals.

starting to tentatively think, that if we can, if we could, if he debuts at PSG well next year, and holds form.......do the sunshine tour in a couple of years?????? im not 100% on how the criteria for selection works, but its something i nearly did twice when SJ, dad has always wanted to go, and this little TB is proving he CAN hold his own against warmbloods, so far at least. so thats something to consider for the future.......and it might be a pipe dream, but we all have to dream :)

massive thanks to Joseph and Kitty who played pom pom wavers and groom and support crew for the day. nice for Kitty to see her future juniors horse in action (thats another plan we have....)

Looks super well done. Re: Sunshine tour afaik you don't have to be selected...once you pay the money off you go!

Fantastic result, sometimes it is really nice to take the pressure off and have a play day as you say. You certainly benfitted this time, well done you must be so proud.:)

Wow! Well done! He looks absolutely stunning. I too think the last pic is my fave. He just looks so balanced and light. Lovely. x

Wow! What a great result & fab pictures.
I feel I should show these pics to my own Ex-racer and say 'see, it is possible I'm not being *totally* unreasonable' :-D

Yep... Think we'll be poking Reggie the Donkey about this! PS, tell CS he's showing up all our ponies and needs to buck his ideas up to live up to the ex-racer stereotype!

He looks so fab. Are 100% sure he's not a warmblood who somehow accidentally ended up in race training? Very confident looking and happy.

Wow, he looks amazing and congratulations on all the qualifications :)

As an aside I've just realised I saw his 2yo half sister recently!

Fantastic!! Well done, you both look great! Glad to hear CS managed to refrain from waving at his fans ;)

I'm back to Moulton next Sunday, with the beast this time, have finally got to grips with him again ;)!! Are you going?

Wowzer! You are an amazing pair, congrats again :D

I think I'll join the "look exracer horse this is what you can do gang"! Very motivating :D

Well done! He looks fab as usual :D Don't know anything about the sunshine tour criteria, but I hope you go, purely so we can have lots of extra-sunny extra-shiny CS pictures :o:p

Was friend/client L with Edward? Haven't heard from her for ages so it's good to know that he's going well!

You came 1st and scored 66% with 2 errors of course!?! ;)
Well done! Go CS showing them how it is done! I can't sse the pics (work) but I'm sure he looks stunning like usual.

You two shoudl definetly aim for the Sunshine Tour you could dazzle them with your matchy-matchyness ;) Only question is do you think CS could cope with everyone speaking a forigen language? The different coloured mud? and strange tasting water? :p
