I had a bit of a jumping accident on Tuesday which ended in me landing face first on my pony's head ... cue fat lip, black eye and huge black, swollen cheek.

Its going down bit by bit but just wondered if anyone else had done something equally silly and how long it took to go totally. I had it checked out in a&e and they said it would take a few weeks

- thankfully it is just brusied. They sent me for XRays as initially they thought I might have broken my cheek bone!

I'm supposed to be jumping next weekend and really want to go

I got headbutted a few weeks back in the face.I had a black eye and bruised cheek which were both fine within a week.I did have a couple of sleepless nights though, trying to get comfy in bed without laying on the bruising was easier said than done

I broke my cheekbone in a non horsey accident on holiday - it took a month for all the swelling to go down but it was actually broken so yours might go down a bit quicker. I had nerve damage as well and would get funny little twitches in my eyelids, top lip and nose for about 6 months afterwards, but they didn't diagnose this until I started getting the twitches so don't be surprised if this happens.

I've had numerous injuries over the years, had 2 shiners that took 4-6 weeks to die down, my advice would be try arnica cream and ice! On the plus side as the bruises healed I got to see which shades of eye shadow in the future would suit me!

Me, Christmas eve, last year:

After being double barreled in the face. I broke both eye sockets, cheekbones, sinuses, my nose, and upper and lower jaw lots. That wound between my nose and mouth was ripped right open so my mouth and nostril were one big gaping mess

I'm very lucky to be alive
