This advert made me sad. What sort of home are they trying to get this poor foal into?

"Is anyone looking for a new member of the family. Would make a great companion, potential future stallion, potential pony for a child to grow up with. Meet buttons, 5 and half months old colt foal. He is a fully registered mini Shetland.
Small enough he could live in your house, I’ve seen bigger dogs.
He probably won’t go any bigger than 30” when fully grown, need to get his current measurement.
He is stabled and eating hay and hard feed.
He is a timid as not had much handling but every day we spend with him he is getting braver and more sociable.
Don’t miss your chance to get your hands on this tiny little beauty. Christmas is just around the corner?"

Hopefully some kind soul will see through it and buy the poor thing as a companion or such. £800 is nothing to the sort of people who dish out 10k or more for their horses.

The auctioneer at the WPCS sales last month tried encouraged a couple bidders by saying Christmas was on its way. I suppose marketing is marketing, no matter what you're selling. There's always a few pony ads on DD saying "ideal Christmas present" at this time of year too.

Does it give the registration details?

I will admit I have started ads for the racehorses with "An Xmas present to yourself" and "New Year new horse!" BUT it is always followed up with the caveat that we do NOT advise or encourage people to get new horses as presents and as usually all potential homes will be fully vetted before the horses leave the yard.

The only time we advise buying racehorses as presents is when we are selling syndicate shares ?
