We were unable to login to your account.

Please verify that you entered your email address and the email account password correctly, and that you selected the right email provider.

(Note that you need to enter the password you use to log into your email account, not your Facebook password.)
Sorry, we currently only import webmail address books from Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, MSN, and Yahoo. However, if your email client (the program you use to read your email) can export your list of contacts to a file, you can upload the file to Facebook and we will use it to find friends already on the site. For more information, see the "If you use an email client:" section below.
Are Your Friends Already on Facebook?
Web Email (Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, Gmail, etc.)
Enter your email login and password below and we will tell you which of your contacts are on Facebook. We won't store your login or password or email anyone without your permission.

So you all know I am not nuts! PapaFrita saw it also here is the post

I've just this minute registered and it didn't ask me for my email password. It asked me for me email address and a password I invented. Never once mentioned retrieving my email! Are you sure you didn't stumble onto a similar scam site?
Oh, hang on... you're right! I just skipped that stage though.

If any of you have young ones using your laptop or computer had they had chosen to do that your complete contacts and notes would have been sent to face book!! If it was my computer I would have been doomed!! Thank god my Horses cant type

You don't HAVE to do this though

You can add your own contacts - this feature is only for it to log into your email account and see if any of your contacts are on facebook...

I can log in without it saying this...

I'm confused!

You *do not* have to give your email password on facebook. You register with your email addy & a password (whatever you want this to be).

You can *if you wish* give facebook your email password so it can go through your contacts & send invites to people you know to register on facebook.

The only contacts it will mail are those registered at that email addy, not any of your other emails.

I have been on facebook for months & have never given it my email password. Again, you *do not* need to give you email password over, you can just skip this every time it prompts.

Hope that helps some!

I can enjoy facebook without giving them my password!

They don't force you too - I have computer sense and wouldn't give them my email password. What's the problem??

If a site ask's for it ITS A SCAM!!!! Period!! 100% Just because the site operates and does what its meant to do , doesnt mean its legit!! Do you know how many software programs are on the market with fancy websites that are scams?? 70 to 80 % of all Registry Cleaning(to speed up your computer is the slogan they all use) software sites or scams even though they look fancy and have awards logos on them?? they put crawlers on your system and retrieve personal information!!

This is the number 1 security phrase on all Computer Security manuals when teaching people!!

Chapter 1 Secation A NEVER GIVE ANYONE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL PASSWORD!!!! lol and if you are asked RUN!!!!

I feel like I am talking to an Amy supporter holy [****].... Just because you didnt click on it and didnt give your email password doesnt mean the rest of the world is as brilliants as you!! And if the scam'r finds anything they give it to an outside person to do the scam!!

Do you know how many Amazon.com login info emails these guys have gotten??? ASK AMAZON!!! this happens all day and is impossible to prosecute cause the people give it up themselves!!!! and you can never trace it back to the site like facebook.com

Do you see any Advertising on the site??? how about fees to use it??

hhhmmm they just want to provide a service!! lol OMG I am having an AT attack I need lie down!

I know!! tell me to relax... its the fact instead of saying "Hey thats interesting Ill look into that maybe your right" You just defend it like its your child or something!! THATS THE AMY SYNDROME!!!! lol Please dont anyone respond to this I have given my view.

Killians time!!!

You do not have to give your email password to use facebook therefore dont give it if your that worried.

yes there is lots of advertising on the site and yes you do have to pay for some features so that is how its supported.

My dad Okayed it before i joined and i would think he has alot more experiance and knowlege then you do.

From Facebook's home page:

Find friends in your address book who are already on Facebook. ( Facebook won't email anyone without your permission, and we won't store your email or password )

I work in IT & I have several friends on fb that work in IT security, including people who work for IBM & similar companies, none of them have any problems with it.

And yes, they do have advertising.

Also, I object to being compared to an AT supporter.

I, too, have been a member for a very long time and never once had a problem. You only have to go through that if you click on the link saying 'add contacts from my email' (or something like that) but you dont have to do that, you can just search their name and add them.

I VERY much object to being compared to an Amy Tryon supporter.
I mearly stated that you do not HAVE to give facebook your email password and that I enjoy the site whilst ignoring the parts that I don't like, purely because it is a good tool finding old friends.

You seem to want to pick a fight here.

Fair enough give us advice, but calm the fook down.
