I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry looking at those comments. The best we can hope for is that they are troll posts. If they are genuine it is quite heartbreaking about the youngsters in particular.

pretty certain they're genuine, dont think they've got enough brain cells to be a toll ;)

I can believe all of it - have eavesdropped on more than one conversation at horse sales over here in dear old Ireland that are similar if not identical to that sort of dialogue. Sadly I have witnessed some of the 'training' of youngsters that are little more than foals, indeed some of them still have their foal tail and mane.......land of the horse and all that.

That's only a small percentage on the down right stupid stuff posted on there daily. If you search "horse chit chat" you will find it easily, it has nearly 30,000 likes!

I "liked" Horse Chit Chat too, but for the main reason of, its hilarious, and yet, very worrying!

The comments posted above are seen daily, and the people can get quite agressive as well!!

My favourite the other day went along the lines of,

Any one selling a 14hh, perfect to do in always, novice ride, good at SJ & Dressage, but safe for the whole family, 100% to catch, shoe, handle etc etc, dont have a lot to spend, £300 or less...

WTH????!!

I REALLY struggle to hold my tongue when I have the occasional browse. The post about lunging an 11 month old is bad enough, but the reply - use a big stick! - is awful!
The ones that really make me laugh are the 'wanted for free to "good" home - 15-17hh 4-10yrs, must be perfect to hack and school, jump a course of 1m+, have no vices, perfect to handle, good doer etc etc'
What planet/drugs are they on?? You wouldn't sell your horse in the first place if he were that perfect, let alone give him away to some numpty who hasn't got 2 brain cells to rub together that you found on facebook!

Jiggle, that is a great description!!

I love it when they ask if anyone's got a preloved account to get them a number off an advert, an account is £5 for the year!! If you can't afford £5 then how can you afford a horse??

On one FB page in one day we had someone selling a 33 yr old who could SJ and XC (not loan but SELL) a story about a horse who died the day after physio treatment because "the person put his back out" and someone asking why the 3 yr old she's breaking bucks and rears - should she try riding it while long reining???

it is mainly kids using it to show off and spout things they hear.... i hope the "appropriate adult" is keeping them in line, however if the adult in their life knows diddly squat about horses i worry for these
poor animals

I find this highly amusing too! Why on earth cant they just pay the £5???? They can contact as many ad's as they want then, drives me mad!

Its scary to think some of these posters on chit chat own horses, have to bite my tongue no end of times :(

I know that page and yes it's very true there are some silly posts but it's not the only horse page on Facebook that have some silly things post I saw one the one day naming an eggbutt snaffle as a "bad" bit which i don't believe it is I think the bit is as affective as the rider using it if you as me, some people I wouldn't how they havnt been killed by there horses! I think the best I have seen so far is a ladys mother in law gave her a 6 month old colt as her first horse and she had never ridden/handle/ been around a horse and her mother in law gave her it and just said there you go, you will learn as you go!! Needless to say it been well.. Interesting to watch and when any one try's to help her she says she knows what she's doing, but does she when she gets kicked in the head by said colt!! Some people make me laugh they really do, but you can't help those who will not be help !

I got chucked out of Chit Chat for suggesting that rather than trying to sell a 3yo ride & drive cob that they chuck it out in a field until it looks more like a 3yo and less like a yearling. Oops!

????

I feel like a total novice now. What is going round on the lung? And why can't you lung stallions and colts?

(Haven't read all the posts so may be re-posting something - sorry if I am)

This made me cringe a bit..
OP No horses free to good home? Me & my girlfriend have rescued 2 ponies so far and they have come on leaps and bounds we now have a field and are looking for another one, so any CHEAP OR FREE horses then please mail me, experianced and loving home awaits :)
