The last two hacks ned and I have enjoyed this week have made up for all the difficult times we have had. It has made me realise why I own him, it just all felt like it had been worth all the anguish we have had in the last two years of owning him.Not that it has been that bad, but sometimes you wonder why you put yourself through it.

I have had a few confidence issues of late, and decided on Monday I was going to face them.

I took neddy across the road that I have been scared of negotiating for a year!

With the aid of "Don't Panic remedy!" We got safely over the road then had to pass through the scary, busy village, and up into the bridle path then up on to the open moor and back along another road where we met a reversing white van complete with beeping noises, and we had to squash in beside the shop with a flapping, swinging sign as there was a traffic jam. Ned was exemplary and stood like a rock until we could carry on.

We recrossed the road to home and he was still on his best behaviour, and returned home safe and sound after two and a half hours!

Today we hacked out for 3hours and he was as good as gold.
My message is don't give up when it feels like it is such an uphill struggle, perceiver and it can be done!!

oh well done, Im having issues with mine at the minute, feel a complete wimp and the only comments I get from all sides is the horse is a mans horse you need something else. Een my husband started to say it!

Really pleased you got some confidence there

well done. I am doing the same with my youngster, she has an excuse as she is only a 3 yr old but had a bad fall last yr and really knocked my normlly i will get on anything confidence. however we went on our own up to the village today had one little stop but got going again. i rode her in field couple of nights ago on my own and she was a gem. only been riding her 2 weeks so really chuffed. knnow how difficult it is.

Well done, it's such a cool feeling when it comes together, sounds like a ride which would test a few riders from your description, reversing vans flappy things traffic jam ect ;) sounds like you have a nice beastie :)

Well done you, your post gives me confidence to deal with my issues! I am going to be facing my demons when I have the new horse Indy delivered to me from the UK in 4 weeks time (in avatar). It will be interesting, I have totally lost my confidence hacking as my old horse I sold after 5 yrs (grey in sig) was a freak to hack, rearing, shaking and spinning for home. It will be the first time for me to own a horse with no school at home, we will be building one but obviously it will take longer than we have before she arrives as we don't move for 4 weeks either!

I will have a fenced paddock to ride in and the lanes. I will let you know how we get on ;)

I hope your new found confidence continues and your horse continues to be a star for you :)
