Well to anyone that has been following my some what complicated 'confidence' issues I've been having since that unbroken youngster fractured my spine in October.... I have finally done it, faced my ultimate fear, and got back on another unbroken youngster.
On Tuesday morning I was longreining the little Exmoor pony, he was being good as gold so my boss came in, sent me off to get my hat, and the next thing I knew he was leading me round the school!!
Little pony was a total gem and I think looked after me more than I looked after him as I was a total nervous wreck.
Turns out backing youngsters shouldn't be a total nightmare!. Not saying the pony won't have a 'moment' but, after all the work I (and the rest of the staff) put into him on the ground, he had a lovely first ridden experience and I can't wait to get back on him tomorrow.
Also feeling some affection towards my boss who could easily have picked someone else to back the youngster but knew that it was something I really needed to do and did everything to make the experience easy for me.
Feeling very happy about life in general today LOL
