Facial Nerve Paralysis

As the title says really just wondering if anybody has any experience of this in horses my old mare has it on one side vets says there isn't really anything you can do for it unfortunatly but my mare is coping well and keeping weight on and is happy and healthy other than that.

Was wondering if people have ridden horses with this if so have they still been ok to use a bit or worn bitless bridles etc?

Our old boy had this. He had a lop sided face from the front, but worked totally as normal. He was a bit dead to the hand on the left, but we used a thinner mouthpiece that seemed to help.

This happened to a friend of mines horse a few years ago. She used to ride him in his normal bridle and she still evented him but had to have a letter from her vet saying he was ok to show the organisers.
Funnily enough it went after a couple of years and he's fine now.
