Hi all, I have taken a horse on loan, however the black saddle we have been given is very faded and worn especially around the leg area. Is there any way i can get the colour back with polishes or something.. as it looks rather bad :/

You can use Tuxan renovating polish - it re dyes leather, make sure you use saddle soap over it. You reallly only want it for it's dye properties - not its polish. Speak to a cobbler - they may have a better leather dye. Ordinary shoe polish is no good at all - it just wears off immediately. I have renovated several black leather saddles this way, but work it in hard, lots of layers and then use a leather feed and saddle soap over the top, also beware your white/beige breeches for a while, the dye will come off.

This is going back a while but in my youth (a ****** long time ago!) we used to use boot polish sparingly on the top of all saddles!!! I still do on old saddles but not sure how the new saddles would respond. Must admit that's why I don't like black saddles........
