Failing To Understand

tbf it doesnt say the only have 2 acres it saya they want to clear 2 acres of wood for more grazing I assume.
I would like to think they have other fields and just are planning on extending by 2 more acres...hopefully

Not defending them, but that advert does not state that they only have 2 acres of land. It states that they still have 2 acres of woodland to clear and a stable block to build.

Might not be perfect, but who are we to judge when that is all we have to go on.

I'd rather horses go to someone at least trying to help, than be left to fend for themselves.

No, it might not be perfect, but how the hell can we know that from such little information.

There isn't a rescue centre in the UK that isn't asking for donations...at least these guys are asking for equipment, not money.

i think it means they have 2 acres of woods to clear, not 2 acres in total. It doesn't say how much land they have but yeah, they basically want horses and everything free! x

Heh i used to work for a 'rescue' that kept about 10 horses on 4 acres..... but you cannot ever say anything to them about it or they throw a strop and tell you your heartless ;)

EDT- cannot comment on the add as blocked at school

Wow....know them do you? If you don't, how on earth can you make such an assumption?

They might have 20 acres and need to clear 2 acres of woodland to build stables so as not to build on grazing land.

The thing is, we don't know.

Why are people so damn quick to assume the worst, not hope for the best?

If they need even the most basic of things, so desperately, then they need to wait before taking on more horses, however well-intentioned they are. Get the set-up in place first, then start rescuing, or you can create another welfare case.

Although I agree with everyone on the *band head against wall....repeat as necessary* train of thought, I read the advert as they have the stable block to put up and 2 *further* acres of woodland to clear. I assume to make more grazing??

However I wouldn't touch them with someone else's really long bargepole!

ETA: Wow I am REALLY slow at typing! I thought I was being wise, instead I just look like I'm dumb and copying everyone else!

Not hoping for the best because i'm a cynic, quite simply.
I read it as 2 acres free and have 2 acres to clear - with 8 "rescued" horses.
Who knows though, it's not the best worded advert.

It also states they're requiring hay for free - surely that is necessary for rescue horses?

Absolutely agree. Just think a little care needs to be taken not to make assumptions on something like this.

We don't know, they may be average horsey people, thrown in at the deep end. It is how most great rescue centres start. Better to watch, support and report if necessary, than to judge, condemn and be unable to help.

Good luck to them - I hope they manage to get through it all

But coming in to summer when the grass is good and the cost of keeping a horse is at its cheapest and having to ask for basics such as lead ropes it doesnt sound like they have much of a hold on this

They have 7 acres, 2 more to clear and a stable block to build.

I didn't read it as "wow they can't afford lead ropes", They maybe just asking for things such as lead ropes etc etc because thats the sort of thing people throw away.
