Fair weather riders?

I don't mind getting wet, and as long as I'm riding something that isn't too spooky in a gale then I don't mind. However I draw the line at rain so bad and sideways that you can't open your eyes.
I used to live in north Lancs and hacked a few times a week around the Trough of Bowland in any weather, sometimes it was glorious, like being on top of the world, but when it was bad it was awful. Luckily my then-mare was a hardy sort and didn't mind a good drenching, in winter we'd pick our way up the icy lanes, slipping and sliding all over the place (think spider with roller skates on). :D

I don't mind riding in cold/wet conditions but an old WB I used to ride just hated the rain, he wouldn't refuse to do anything but he was just so miserable if we set out in the rain, so we would do some indoor work or a quick walk inhand to warm him up then back to the table to do some stretching exercises.

because i compete i always take the line they have to get used to all the crappy variations of UK weather, so hail and sleet aside, if i planned to ride.....i ride!

i did wonder if i was perhaps a little mental getting on the 3yo for a walk round the field in the dark and the rain at 6.50pm last night but he was foot perfect, i need not have worried!
