Hello, considering purchasing a fairfax girth on the advice of my physio. Are the long girths measured in the same was as any other standard girth? Has anyone noticed a big change in their horse after using one?
There have been other threads, and yes it made a difference to my horse.
I needed one a size bigger. They measure true when held straight, but there is so much padding that when they wrap round the horse the outside which the buckles are attached to has further to go!
Yep huge difference using one after the saddler declared my saddle fitted but the girth didn't and OMG in a length of the school he was a different horse. I'd say the synthetic prolite one is true to size but didn't splash out on the leather one
I bought one, which my horse doesn't seem to mind. Saddler said it was the best girth for him so I bought it. Yes, I am a total sucker for posh tack (proper all the gear and no idea) but he's only 4 so he'll get his wear out of it.
Is it significantly better than a.n. other good quality leather girth? Not 100% convinced. It is a lovely bit of kit though.
Can't help wondering if it wouldn't be even nicer if it had something slightly elasticky about it. I mean, I like a nice snug supportive bra, but I wouldn't fancy one that didn't have a bit of give in it. I know some people hate elasticated girths because lots of people over tighten them, but I do wonder.
