Took the two mares to a 2 phase (SJ + XC) yesterday, and while they certainly didn't win, they went well and it was a good XC warm up for upcoming events (as no XC courses locally are open for schooling yet).
Flora was in the intro standard class, and apart from a stop at a v skinny stile in the SJ (why a skinny in a novice standard class I don't know but was the first time she had ever seen one) it went well. Out on the XC she was awesome, really took me into every fence, didn't tire at all, and apart from a blip at some v scary barrels just before a steep slope into the water she was foot perfect.
She concentrated, looked for her next fence, and even though she had been calling for the other mare, as soon as she started, she completely concentrated on the job in hand.
Have 2 photos, the first is brilliant, and the second not so, but will put link to both...

Sophie had 2 runouts at the same stile in the open class (PN/nov standard) which was naughty, but we have never practiced skinnies with her either as don't appear in PN. She redeemed herself with a foot perfect run round the XC which was fairly stiff with plenty of non finishers, and a good warm up for her first event next Sunday. Again 2 photos...

I will probably buy the first one each of each.
The weather was so great, as was forecast to be cloudy and drizzly, so to get sunshine all day was unexpected but v welcome.
