Im looking to buy a Pessoa but see on ebay there are other brands such as Shires who make them.
Has anyone ever bought a fake Pessoa and been disappointed/pleased with their purchase?

Should i just fork out for a genuine Pessoa or try a cheaper version?

I brought a second hand one. No idea if it was a proper one, but it worked absolutely fine. It was like knitting originally, but once you established what bit went where it was fine. Lasted about 4 years with almost daily use.

my own is that cheap it doesn't actually have a name on (thinking possibly kincade??) used a few times a week and still in near perfect condition. Horses are also looking superb

I bought a "fake" one for only £35 - works a treat, great quality and is seeming very durable. Go for it, there's no point paying the price of the actual pessoa because essentially you're just paying for the name such a rip off!

I have the Whittaker one and think it's god value for money. They all do the same thing but with well known, fashionable brands you pay for the name :)

I have a libbeys one - perfectly servicable 2 years on. You do have to figure out what goes where though!

I'm with Tiffany and have the John Whitaker one. It was £68 I think, so not the cheapest, but still well below the price of an actual Pessoa. With its colour coded ropes, I find the Whitaker very easy to use and I'd highly recommend one.
