Faking lameness

When mine had an abscess she was lame, and then sound, and then lame again. Have you tried gently pressing the spot where the abscess is, if he is genuinely in pain he will flinch :)

My boy has now been sound for 3 days got him in and trotted him up on the concrete. He walked over stones with no reaction. So I can only assume the fake lame the other morning was from apprehension. He'd been laying down and limped when he got up so perhaps he was expecting it to Hurt. He then followed,me and the old girl with no problems and has been fine since. Going to see if my farrier can come today to doubly confirm he's ok and to put his first set of hind shies on

Thanks for all your comments. And here's to hoping he's on the mend and for the old girl to feel better soon

Interesting discussion. I agree that horses don't fake lameness in the usual 'human' sense of faking, i.e. being deliberately deceitful.
