I am considering buying this rug for my TB mare who has sensitive skin. Has anyone had any experience on whether they rub or not (the mane and the shoulders especially). Thanks.

I have a Fal Pro Viking with detachable neck and it is the most fab rug I have ever had. It does not rub my mare's mane when others have. My mare has wide shoulders and this rug does not rub her at all.

I've had loads of fal's and slumberdown's and not one has rubbed (including the bulldog). Saying that they aren't on TB's. xxx

Oh God, I read that as "Fat bulldog with attached neck......."
I need to lie down in a darkened room!

My mare is really sensitive and I have a fal viking detachable with the slippery lining and it doesnt rub her shoulders but where the join is for the detachable neck it does cause her mane to fall out. The slumberdown rugs have shoulder pleats which is why I avoid them as I have found they split. If you dont need a neck cover then I think the rambo high neck is as good.

The bulldogs are not as tear resistant as the more expensive fals. I bought one for my pony but replaced it with a rambo. Mainly because she hated the neck cover and it wasnt detachable as such! IE I could have undone the stitching! But I was too lazy and sold it on ebay!

My Fal Pro Bulldog rubs Rosie's mane out. It's pretty old now and stupidly has a thick seam where the neck and rug join even though it's not removeable.

Years ago I sewed a nylon tail guard into it to cover the seam and that made it a bit better so it didn't rub her bald, but the bottom 3rd of her mane rubs off every winter and never grows back the same.

I need to invest in a new heavyweight rug with neck but really can't decide what to get as I don't want another mane rubber.

The Fal has been brill in every other way.
