Just wondered if anyone could tell me how they find the cut/fit/shape of Fal rugs?
Are they remotely similar cut to Horseware/Amigo ones? I had a slumberdown (which are made by Fal so I was told) and it was a terrible fit on my section D- it gapes at the shoulder big time.

The rug is for the youngster tho, not the section D.

Any views or opinions?

No, not the same fit as Rambo's, all my fal rugs rubbed badly at the withers on each horse, i went back to having Rambos and sold all my Fal rugs, will never buy them again !

I have tried all makes and found the Rambos are by far the best.

But it depends what you fit want, I dont like rugs that rub at the withers or pull tight across the front of the chest and the Rambos do neither. There is plenty of room at the front and at shoulders ( no rubbing there either ) but reading your thread it seems that is not what you are looking for ?

I had a similar problem with a slumberdown rug (who are made by Fal - but they don't do them anymore!) fit was awful and I got shot of it. I love my rhino rugs - fit is fab - if your budget can stretch a litte further than the amigo I'd go for the rhinos (or the rambos if money is no object

Um, my old lad (thoroughbred/connemara, thin skinned, doesn't carry a huge amount of weight) has a Fal Goliath for outside and a Godolphin for the stable, and I never have a problem with rubbing. I do get a size bigger than I would a Rambo, tho'.

I use fal and rambo. The fal are good for horses with a big shoulder. However I have also found the rambo a size bigger also works. I like the rambo high necks for the ones that dont need a neck cover but if they need neck cover I like the safety of the fal.

If I buy a fal I buy the correct size. If buy a rambo I go for the next size up.

Thanks all is has been very helpful to hear all your opinions. Sounds like I am just going to have to stick with what i know and go with an amigo or horseware if I can.

Neither of my two have big shoulders although Taz is growing and changing shape all the time- he wasn't filling the amigo shoulder 2 months ago but is now!

Fals are great for big shouldered horses. Usually go down a size for a fal.

I love them hard wearing, wash up well and fit my big beastie perfectly.
