Fall from my 4yro today now wondering what to do.

If you're just getting back into horses and have previously had ponies then moving on to a 4 year old tb is a big jump up - something you mentioned about him rearing up and going over on the lunge when you were trying to 'get a contact' is ringing alarm bells to me - you do not have the experience to deal with a 4 year old tb and it is quite possible that he is confused/ getting mixed messages from you and you could create a real problem for him/yourself.
Get some help before you lose your confidence - this is a situation where you need experienced instruction or a different horse :-)

cut his hard feed and feed him hay as he is feeling full of himself, get back on him, give you a kick up the bum and work him. If you dont want to then he is not the horse for you and sell him. mine is a 5yr old TB x WB and very quirky and can do all of these and more but if naything i push her more when she is messing about and she gets more work.

Got a professional to re school him this week and he came this evenin and really got my boy working and even jumped! (I was building up to trotting polls in about 4 months!))
Very annoying when horses are saints for other people but rude with yourself! He needs someone firmer and more experienced to bring him on in the school and its nice to see him being worked well and looking graceful :) I'm glad that he's getting sorted and I'm having a week off to rest as I can't even muck out at the mo! Will update at end of week whether he's in my good books!
