Hi can anyone tell me if they have had improvement with a crest neck or in my case a fallen crest? Ive researched multi information all contradictory but one thing does stand out, those using magnesium and chromium are getting improvement results long term.

Hi, I have had a PRE stallion with a fallen crest which we vastly improved by getting him properly fit and riding him correctly on the bit and in collection. He had previously been allowed to get obese and was only ridden, if at all, on a loose rein. We didn't do anything with special feeds or supplementation; I believe it is a muscle VS adipose tissue issue.

Hi thank you for this information, i cant ride this stallion hes 16 yr unbroken , prev owner has had him since importedat 18mths old. Owner is an old man now and hes very open with info, he says hes never been lame or overweight ( seen photos). Bloods have come back high Glu, low red & white . ( given him iron supplement. In 23 days in my ownership the crest and topline appears to be improving, his diet has changed vastly from previous owners diet. I do core exercise to loosen the stiff crest.( mainly fallen side inhibits him).. any other info most welcome thanks for replying

That's all fine, but you will not fix a fallen crest with minerals. Sorry.

Hi thank you for your coment, that i wont fix fallen crest with minerals, have you tried? Quiessence is a usa product specific to cresty neck and fallen crest other horse and hound have recomended this with results it not available uk.. australia , ker, andnew zealand actually research this problem and ALL report that change diet, increase magnesium, and add chromium does improve.the crest will rise. It may not ( fix it) but it will stop it advancing and raise it so the horse has more movement. Having your horses blood tested also helps the process to see how much you can increase in diet supplements.. it work a try, in 23 days i. Seeing a difference in this horse.. im waiting for quiescence to see if this can further improve.
