I don't know about you lot, but when I was a kid, I fell off, if I had broken bones it would hurt, if not I was just fine!

Fell of yesterday, it was quite a heavy one but I'm fine, although every part of my body is hurting today!

Dad says it's because I'm getting old (24

) what do you think??

I fell off when I was about 10 and I didn't bounce!!! I still have problems with my back from landing over a pole on my back with no BP on!!

I'm not saying you can't have bad fall's when your younger - I had lots!! But it's the not bad falls that don't hurt when your young, but when you get older they do!!

Just wait til you get to my age guys!
I've been lucky and never had a really bad fall (broken knuckle is the worst I've done) but I do stiffen up a lot more than I used to. Although saying that the last fall I had wouldn't have been that bad if I hadn't hit my foot off the jump stand on the way down!

17 year old broke her pelvis in BE PN at my yard in April and apparently she won her 1st outing at Intro recently. At my age, she would be still convalescing. Getting old is better than the alternative!

i do think the body heals more slowly when you are older. I am rather closer to 50 than I would like to be and broke my hip in a fall a couple of years ago....

...it still isn't right

Yea I read about that, sounds horrid - and you have a very unsympathetic granny!

Like i said before, I had falls like yours when i was young, and I did seem to have worse falls - maybe it's when you brake bones you just don't notice the aches!

Hope you make a quick recovery - good thing about collar bone brakes is, although they hurt like feck, they heel pretty quick.

I dont think it is worse as you get older. I just think when you are younger you are more Gung Ho! You dont realise the repercussions of getting back on to early/not resting etc. Plus you dont have the responsibilities of mortgage, children etc. Just think you are more cautious as you get older!

If you bash your back badly at any age its bad news.

Maybe its because at a younger age you are more active so ligs and tendons are more flexible and dont get damaged so easily. Maybe there is just less general wear and tear on the joints which makes it easier! I dont know! All I know is it seems to hurt more and take longer to recover! LOL

I was pivotted through the air last year for the first time in over 30 years......it wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined it would be, LOL!! Mind you I was in a sand arena at the time teaching a youngster about the merits of beef cattle - I don't think he liked them much. He was much better when I took him back in again a few minutes later though.

I have spent all these decades wondering what it is like to fall off; I couldn't remember if it hurt or not; glad to say it didn't, however if I don't come off again for another 30-odd years that'll be just fine by me.

All right, I'll admit my age. I'm 60. And no, I don't bounce like I used to. Don't really think about the chance of injury, but it's such a nuisance if you're laid up and live on your own (and have dogs). I'm lucky with my YO who looked after my horses, no questions asked, when I was really immobile (broken sternum a few years back), and I found I could stagger to the kitchen for a cup of tea, but I hate getting old.

Thank you!

Do they really heal quickly?
I hope so..
My mum's just withdrawn me from 2 BEs in september

Got to go to fracture clinic tomorrow

..what do they do there??

I had a fall in my last jumping lesson and i was in complete agony the next 5 days after. I landed on my back on hard ground and was winded but still wont wear a bp!! theya re uncomfortable!! but i am only 14 and i already have had lots of painful falls but i bounce pretty well:)!!

I think you certainly bounce less as you get older!

When I think of the falls I have had and the injuries that I had and I got straight back on. Rode two horses round the gallops with a fractured leg
blush.gif
only found out that night it was fractured and jumped a horse with 3 broken ribs, in fact I only found out 1 year later taht they were broken when I went into hospital after another fall, the doctor said "And you have 3 broken ribs that seems to have healed themselves"
