Planning to get my horse a heavyweight detachable neck t/o and considering one of these.

Is anyone familiar with these two rugs and is the Viking worth the extra expense?

Thanks

I have the Falpro Bulldog medium weight with detachable neck and the heavy weight with detachable neck, think I've had them about 7 years now and they are still going strong. I absolutely love them, they are nice and deep and when they are soaking wet they don't weigh a ton.

i own a few vikings, and have had liveries on the yard with bulldogs... i personally feel the vikings are worth the extra to be honest, when you put the two together, the material of the viking seems so much better - but - the rugs i am talking about here are now years old - I'm not sure what their new stock is like.

The main difference is the outer material - the Bulldog is 640 denier and the Viking is 1000 denier, so a denser, heavier material. However, I have had a Bulldog for about 8/9 years now and it is still in daily use (bar the odd snag).

Viking -talking about oldish rugs again (one around 10 yo and the other 2,3 yo) - very good quality but neck a bit of a weird shape and tail flap v small (it's windy here!). You definitely need to go a size bigger if not 2 sizes - I went for 6'9" for a mare that normally has room to spare in 6'6" and it's too small - should've gone for 7' but lovely and warm :-)
