With some shows coming up and some of bens mane being *ahem* compromised! I'm going to make a couple of falsies for his mane... Now I've sewn them in before with ebony, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips for how to get the best/smartest look when fixing them, he should have a good couple of inches of whisp and mane, so plenty to secure to, but further up his mane is much thicker and will make a lovely plait whereas if I just plait what's there it's going to look pretty anaemic! So, how do you go about gathering up the hair that's there and then securing the false plait to it? I'm thinking try to plait what's there, tuck the real but tiny plait underneath and secure the false plait... Any tried and tested methods?

you really need to stitch fake plaits in! takes a bit of practise to make look good but is commonly done! get practising!!

Oh yes no I know that, I always stitch them in, but they always end up looking like a falsep plait that has been stitched to a short mane!:o. I just wondered if anyone had a specific 'this is how I do it' tip ;)

Ooo will be watching this I have one horse with a big chunk gone.. was thinking of asking a hairdresser see if they can give me some tips seeing as they do hair extensions.

I did consider buying clip in extensions and plaiting these, but its a bit tricksy as he has both black and white mane... I've got some false black plaits which look great from ebony... It's just the securing them that I have to practice! I just have to wait until we pull his tail and use this for the grey plaits...

You can get pre made falsies and extensions at horsehairextensions.co.uk or .com can't remember but you can find on google

You tube... Good idea... Will have a look

Sorry cant do that copy a comment thing on my phone, but was going to talk to a hairdresser re: using either glue or knotting them in.
I think im going to have to steal some hair from my boys tail seeing as hes a frosted buckskin there's no hope of find an identical match!
