Does anyone know if the above term is similar to or the same as navicular disease. Also has anyone had a horse with this - if so what sort of problems have they encountered

Never heard the term before but good old google bought up this

'a condition of the horse's hoof in which a serious injury to the coronet causes an overgrowth of horn which overlaps the normal wall.'

Based on that description it is obviously nothing like navicular!

Hi the vet has advised that my horse will develop a false quarter do to a coronary band injury. It's on her hind foot and to some degree (not sure how badly until hoof grows down) will have a split hoof with thinner poorer quality hoof forming over the split. Vet advised a weakness but manageable with good shoeing and possibly fillers etc. and should be able to most things normally.
