Fancy browband for showing - what colour?

my mum is about to make me a fancy browband for the occasional showing class that we may do - i am unsure of what colour to ask her to make it! my mare is red-bay with very black points, and, because i have a black jacket with gold piping, and black tack with brass fittings, we were thinking that black velvet with gold ribbon would look nice. simple, but smart!
opinions please!

thank you - that page has given me some good ideas! do you think you need a colour for it to look right? that black alone is not quite enough?

My mare is black so i got a black and red one, her saddlecloth is red so it matches so well

My boy is bright bay with black points and his show browband is red, white and dark navy with gold running through it
