Has anyone used these? My horse has become v v heavy in the hand and is leaning on me. My poor lil arms are sore. I was wondering if anyone has used the fantastic elastic or the cheaper version? Are they any good? Is there any difference between them? Thoughts please

I have used the cheaper rein inserts from ebay and found it very useful so far. My horse unfortunetly has gone lame so haven't been able to use them for very long yet!

I have the Carl Hester fantastic elastic reins but only use them for jumping and fast hacking as they are useful if my soft-mouthed horse stumbles and I'm not quick enough to give with my hands.

I certainly don't think they are anything special for schooling - you either have good hands or you don't and no rein is going to make a significant difference. I wouldn't think they will help your problem with heaviness in the hand.

These reins have their uses but tbh if mine broke, I'd not bother to replace them.

Kick him when he leans, and keep your contact mobile so you don't set against him. Flex him inside for a couple of strides then straighten again each time he starts to lean. Be quick to soften when he does though.

Elastic reins won't help, he'll just stretch the elastic and still feel heavy.
