Picked Sam up from the vets this evening (yay!), and while we were there the vet took me through his latest x-rays taken on their new high tech fab machine.

The fantastic news is that the damage in his knee is not a fracture as such, it is what they call 'bony damage'... I was expecting to see a bit of a subtle dent or something in the x-ray but it was more like bone sticking out of the bone and it was really obvious

Vet said he must have given it one hell of a whack to do it, most unusual! Even stranger is there wasn't a mark on the skin!

He is one VERY lucky boy as the injury is sat square in the middle of the bone and has missed the various joint surfaces completely.

The swelling has gone down LOADS and he is walking lots better too

He looks so much happier.

This changes his treatment totally (for the better!) so from here he is to be walked out twice a day and kept on bute for a fortnight, after that the vet will review but hopefully, if we see the improvement the vet hopes we can start turning him out somewhere small and quiet and go from there...

I am absolutely over the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know! Will have to wait until he is talking to me again though; when he first saw me he looked at me with utter contempt, put his ears back and turned away from me. I think he might be a bit upset that I left him at the vets

I have just seen this, Laura, and I am delighted for you! What great news!

Here's hoping Sam continues his recovery and it's all behind you both in a few weeks and he is back to normal. It seems as though this may well happen, and not so long ago it seemed impossible. I am really glad!
