Fantastic opportunity to get to Rockley

I sincerely hope this thread doesn't get deleted.

I personally only found out about the benefits of horses being barefoot and Rockley through the HHO forum so it's very likely that there are many other people out there who will only find this type of information through a more "mainstream" source such as HHO.

Goodness only knows what my horses future would be without Nic's expertise.

so... bumpety bump :D

I went to Rockley as part of my UKNHCP basic training and met Nic and saw what she does there.

Did a lot of poo picking along the tracks! There are a wide variety of surfaces for the horses from really conformable to quite challenging shillings. There is a big deep pea gravel area for the ones who need to have a supportive, but not too challenging environment.

The horses have plenty of movement and stimulation. The core herd are quite used to visitors, and they all seemed like a really settled and happy bunch of chaps and lasses.

Nic had a lot if casts of before and after and the differences in the hooves, often in 6 weeks, are just amazing. Often it is hard to credit they are the same hooves.

Diet and movement!

Let's hope it doesn't get deleted. My boy is going to Rockley soon and having been to see the place and meet Nic I think it's an amazing opportunity for someone who wouldn't otherwise be able to send their horse. I was so totally impressed with the way Nic does things and truly believe she'll be able to help my horse. This forum put me onto Nic and I will always be grateful for that.

TFC please don't delete, people need to know about this!!!

Cheers :D

I'm going to stick it on the wall at the yard cos there's one man who never wears hi viz on him or his horse. Everyone else does.

I've just moved to a new yard which goes out onto quite a busy B road. I'm shocked at the amount of people I've seen going out in dark clothes and dark horses with not a bit of high viz between them.

Not sure what the issue is Sez. It's an amazing opportunity for the rehab of the horse and the education of the owner.

Did you get reasons for it?

I don't see how this is really any different from folks announcing/informing say that Lidl have cheap rugs in.

In any case I think we've probably publicised it well enough for Nic and she has a fair number of applicants for the scholarship.

Brilliant - that is so cool.

Fascinating post today about Georgia and Bryan. It's just amazing how quickly the feet can change - and anyone thinking that the hoof capsule is a hard and inflexible thing, suitable for banging nails into should take a look at how quickly the heel buttresses move relative to the heels.

Very adaptive.

Wow, that's brilliant, what a generous offer!

Such an exciting opportunity! Hope there are lots of people applying or that it is helping more people become aware of different options for their horse.

Bikerchickone - were you the lady going to visit Nic on the 14th? If so then I'm so so glad you feel more positive about it all! Brilliant that you got to meet and chat with Nic and put your fears to rest. I think some people wonder how so many people can put utter faith in one person, but after you have met Nic it all makes such sense! Best of luck with your boy and do keep us updated!!

Oh, for a lottery win so I could build a track like the one at Rockley... it'd be amazing! I'd love to send my horse there, but I guess I should just be grateful that he doesn't really *need* to, though ;)

Yes,Georgia's pics especially are just amazing! That hoof is definitely saying it wants to be very different and I expect match the limb it's attached to. I can't wait to see how they both develop.

Did you see the post below about the kind of crazy asymmetry on the left fore? yet the horse is sound in so far as he can be and that huge deviation is performing an important function ;)
