Have I done it? Is this finally TOO MANY WHIPPETS????

Took the pack on a walk up to the river today. Currently consists of my mum's three, my two, my sister's one and my aunt's one. All living at home in the kitchen/utility room.

Admiring the swans...

Experiencing that sense of helpless dread you get when they all start running off...

My mum is convinced that seven is too many whippets, I'm not so sure but I have to confess it is a bit of a mission keeping them all under control LOL and I get some funny looks from other dog walkers - think I am becoming "that local mad whippet lady"

What lovely pics and what a lovely lot of whippets, it makes my two seem rather inadequate

If you need a home for any of them?

And I did LOL at your "sense of helpless dread when they all start running off" - I know exactly the feeling you mean, usually accompanied in my case by the "why ever do I have sighthounds" thoughts

LOL I'm sure my mum would let you take as many as you wanted... trust me though, having two is lovely. I wouldn't want a third (she says...)

The bitches are the worst, it is the way they start running, you frantically yell their names in a last ditch desperate attempt to get them off the hunt and back onto you, they stop, look round, nod in your direction as if to say "yep, here I am mum"... and then they p1ss off again.

oiiiiiiiii wheres your frost lol

I dunno, but trust me the edge of the river is frozen and the ditches/streams that run along side it. I was skating on the fields... even the deep puddles round troughs and gateways are frozen right through.

Up where I keep my horse on the hills we've not had running water for over a week and the trough in the field is at least 3" thick with ice each morning when I go to break it. Takes a shovel and a lot of sweat and cussing just to get through the middle

Yes I remember that very well with my two, I swear whippets are worse than greyhounds for being cheeky about running off

it's lurcher thing too........they look back but only to judge if you stand a snowball in hells chance of catching up before they leg it

Re the whippets, as with greyhounds they are so narrow that if you stand them side by side you can have lots more than if you had say, staffies, so 7's not really enough

When I lived at home we used to walk 10-12 at a time

My mum used to get strangely peeved when the whippets dive bombed her cavaliers and treated them like rabbits though

And the best thing about whippets is that you can buy them millions of outfits and no-one will judge you because they HAVE to be wrapped up warm.

ummm, err [blushes]... this is why I took them up to the river. the tow path means their ability to run off is limited

When we go to the woods, I tend to just keep walking and hope that by the time I get to the car I'll have all seven back with me.
