I'm 5'5, and my own horse is 14.2hh arab.....his passport says 15hh and I always believed he was that height but we measured him the other day and he is only just 14.2hh....oops!
Our new one needed to be bigger as OH is sharing, he was 16hh when we bought him and is now 16.2hh! But he's lovely and short coupled so doesn't feel nearly that big!
Excuse me looking rather fat, that was almost my fist time back on after 6 weeks sitting on sofa eating having broken my leg....and probably only the 5th time he was ever ridden as only backed him a few weeks before that!
I am 5'3 and 8 1/2 stone - Maggie is 17.2hh! Ok, it is a bit big, but who cares, as long as you can ride them! Jumping pics in my signature - dressage pics are my sister (5'5) on the same horse.
On the plus side, she is so big that a 1.30m fence feels like 1m!
I'm 5ft 3 and Axel is 16.2 I've owned him since he was a yearling and he was advertised to make 15.2 - 15.3 but he grew bigger!!
I wouldn't go and buy a 16.2 tbh!!
My own horses are a 15.1 lightly built anglo arab and a 15.3 lightly built warmblood. Feel happiest at this size. Though at work I quite often ride a 17.2 chunky gelderlander and find him fine to ride too.
I'm about 5 ft 5 and ride almost anything. smallest ponios are usually around 12'2hh depending on build cos I'm heavier than i used to be (
) and have ridden up to 18.3hh in the past. Currently ride 3, a 15.1, 15.2 and 15.3!! But they do feel a little small as I've been used to mostly 16.2 - 17.2 over the past few years.
Started riding the 18.3 when I was about 14, not quite 5 ft and less than 5 stone. Oh the joys of being a fearless youngster.........
5'4 and currently 17.2 medium weight warmblood. My last horse was a 15hh cob before that a 17hh IDx, I really like the big horses who have a rocking chair gait. Only issue I have now is getting on, cant do it from the floor like I used to be able to.
