Or anyone, but i figured Binky'll know as i know she has a Traddy cob.

I know brown tack is 'correct' for showing, and with hunters it's really important, but in other classes (M&Ms) not so much.

Whats the case with Trad cobs?

We're hoping to get to some shows next season with our cob, and as i'm looking for a new saddle i figured i'd go for a show/hunter saddle, so we had one. But his bridle is already black and he has a really nice wide flat nose/brow band that took us ages to find, so really don't want to start to have to hunt again to get a whole new set of brown tack.

So long ramble short...is tack colour important when showin a T.C?

p.s. Binky...just been on the TGCA fb page and think i found some of your pics (same as your siggy) love the crimpled feathers :D

It depends what colour your traditional is? Piebald then black would suit, skewbald then havannah.

And yes, in M&M showing tack colour is important, most judges prefer havannah 'workmanlike' tack.

He's not a coloured he's a solid, black/dark bay (comes up really chesnutty brown in summer) I know he'd look nice in both (thats the prob) it's just the cost more than anything...the only reason i can afford a new saddle atm is that hopefully i'm due the deposit back on my old house (and am giving up a western saddle for it :( lol)

Brown brown brown! Before I knew better I made the black tack mistake - expensive! Bridle = cheap, saddle = expensive!
You will NEVER be wrong in brown for showing.

Usually, most will use brown tack as it is just correct and tradition.
However, black can be accepted in the TGCA classes - a few use it on their greys and blacks, though obviously, brown is preferred ideally but it's not the end of the world.

If he comes up really chestnutty, then brown would suit him better, but again, it's not the end of the world :)

Good luck with himd :D Yay for the solids out there!

ps, Thanks! Had one of the breeders come to take some fabulous shots of him for the website :D

Thank you. I think at the end of the day it'll come down to what i can find to fit him, but it's good to know i can aim for back with out it affecting us in the ring (when we finally get there :D) too much.

No problem!

Our Ideal H&C show saddle fits our lad best, XW I think it is. Could do with an XXW probably if he bulks up anymore. Very very comfy and for a show saddle, feels very secure to ride in :)

Native pony saddles are also quite good, fit wise also. They'll make to measure and have X[X?]W anyway if I remember rightly. Nice looking show ones to :)
