Also in SB .

I was driving home tonight when I saw this little mite (pictures below) tottering across the road, very feebly and noticeably thin.

No cats protection place is open tonight, neither are the animal rescue's. The vets in the area only really want to see her in the morning, and we're obviously happy to keep her tonight. If I'm honest, if she's not chipped etc I'd like to keep her!

However, what shall we do to keep her comfortable tonight? We've given her a very small bowl of food which she was very happy to have, and a tray of water. She's out away from the house at the moment in our barn in a nice warm corner with some blankets/ rugs as we have our own cat and don't want them to catch anything etc.

Antibacterial wipes/ clean clothes etc are on standby as I come in

Have had suggestions about the CP website to see if she's noted as being missing etc. She was found near the farm where I got my previous cat as they're known for not being neutered and/ or refusing to get them done and just letting them roam the area..

^^ Thats how loose her collar is on her at the moment, so I'm guessing thats how big she was when she first went missing or whatever . Excuse all the rubbish in the background, she's not in with it!

Maybe worth looking at websites or asking around. Just thinking that as she has a collar on that she is someones pet? I think you are doing everything you can to give her a happy night =) and sounds like she would have a lovely home with you if she isn't already taken. Good luck and hope shes/he is okay =)

poor little mite and well done to you for being the good samaritan.

Try your local cats protection or animal shelter in the morning and see if they can sort her out for you. Looks like you may have rescued her in the nick of time. good luck and keep us updated x

DL thats the same state my cat turned up on my door step in, covered in fleas and ticks though.
Took to local vets who handed him over to our local pet rescue, they had him castrated and for a small donation I asked if I could give him a home. He's been with us 6 years now and is the most lovable ball of fluff.
Lets hope she's microchipped, if not then YOU can give her a caring home RIGHT

oh poor little thing, shes so thin. Well done for taking her in, I hope she isn't chipped and then we can have lots of updates of her on here in her new home with you!

Shes very pretty.

Poor little bean.
I hope it's ok and you either find or give her/him a home in the morning.

We had a very skinny cat turn up at the yard last year. Gradually got it to eat from us and allow us to pick her up. She put on weight very well and became a real character. One day she had an abscess in her foot so I got her in a box and to the vet (she hated being picked up but emergency called) Turned out she was a microchipped and was a purebred Bengal. Never was able to trace the owner despite vet, microchip company and breeder efforts. She stayed at the yard for a few more months becoming more and more affectionate before being taken home by one of the ladies and she has, I believe become a totally spoilt house cat!

Fingers crossed for this little one.

She travelled very well, no car sickness to report!

She had obvious muscle wastage, fleas, ticks and worms so she's been kept in overnight to treat that and be put onto some fluids to rehydrate her a bit more. The last few hot days in particular must've been murder for her.

She's then spending the week at the vets to have some tests done and she'll then be going to her local animal shelter to do the same as yours, Samstar - be neutered and get her strength up a bit more . Then we can bring her home

Oh! And she wasn't chipped - forgot that bit

She's about 5 years old too x

I like her colouring tehe! She's almost like a ginger tabby at the back, and a normal tabby at the front
smile.gif

Last night on way home from yard, saw a woman trying to catch very lame cat. Stopped and tried to help, but silly cat was having none of it

The lady phoned local rescue place and they are coming out with a trap, hope they catch it ok!

Well done on doing the right thing. :-) As she had collar on it is possible she got lost from a nice home, e.g. someone recently moved to area? If you were thinking of keeping her anyway might be worth waiting a few weeks for the neutering so that a) she is a bit stronger and b) if the original owner does contact vets/rescue place/cat's protection/RSPCA/whoever you've informed about finding her they can have her back in one piece. I think there was someone on here who got their dog back minus his doggy bits & was quite upset!

Good luck with her if no one claims the little thing :-)
