Do haffys change colour as they get older? My girl was quite dark when we got her but has gone quite light now she's lost her winter coat. She's only 4 so I was wondering if her coat would change colour permanently?
Pics below in order: Merel in Feb, Merel last week, her mother, her father:

Lyric goes lighter in winter with her hairy coat and then goes the lovely rich chestnut y colour in summer, she is 8 but because we have only had her 18 months I don't know what her coat was like when she was younger. Love the dad, him and Lyric would make a lovely foalie!

My girl Blondie goes lighter in the summer. She looks really like Merel in the second picture - so beautiful in every way.

Blondie gets so itchy in the summer. Had her blood tested for allergies but nothing showed up. She must just be sensitive or allergic to summer!!

Unfortunately Afloyd had to be PTS last year after what I believe was a road accident

That's really interesting as Merel has gotten really itchy recently and has got lots of scurff in her coat - the vet says it's because of her losing her winter coat but I've never seen this in any other 'hairy' ponies. I have put her on the feed trial advertised on here and the nutritionist said that it would help her skin too.

Thanks for your advice.
