Yep. I can't see the posts as the cowbag thief has blocked me. But friends have screen shotted to me. How odd to advertise in Gloucs. & Bristol too - when she lives in Kidderminster. Sadly it won't help. The police know all about her - but it's all too hard!!

That is nuts.

Does my head in this selective law enforcement. NOFA

S'not selective, mate, it's like trying to hold onto Scotch mist. There will be a refusal to allow anyone onto the site, outright denial of any knowledge, then 40 people milling round misdirecting. Sadly had dealings and the undercurrent of violence is not good. Dunno about Janet's area, but police teams are about 8 round here and it's not enough.

Actually it IS very selective. When the Criminal justice, public order act was brought in . That loathsome creep Jack straw ordered that it was not to be applied to "travellers" only "new age travellers"

Surely a thief is a thief no matter what ethnic group they belong to and as such should feel the weight of the law?

Would a private prosecution (I know nothing about this sort of thing btw) be possible?

You actually need the local rugby team/ YFC who love a scrum and go in knocking seven bells out of them; when they call the police your mates skidaddle and you can ask how it's possible that little ol you could have done any damage to all of them and then point out your missing items. Been done several times with success, police have to act then.

This thread has left me speechless - not often that happens. As new PM claims to want 'union' perhaps a letter asking for equal rights for Brits?

Someone I knew had a load of rugs stolen (many had pony's name painted on and all were a make that her shop sold as the sole supplier outside Scotland). She saw an advert locally and reported it to the police who declined to do anything so she kept badgering them. Eventually they threatened to prosecute HER for harrassment and wasting police time! She went to the Chief Constable and eventually got her rugs back but no action was taken against the thief.

Get in touch with the Police Commissioner, tell them that you are having no luck with his police force investigating a reported siting of your stolen property and what does he intend to do about it ?

They must be coming up for re-election soon and I would imagine he won't want the bad press of being the Police Commissioner that sweeps crime under the carpet, it won't do his election chances much good.

Unfortunately I can well believe it! Same thing happened to us a few years ago, we found our stuff but couldn't get it back because of where it was.....

I was going to say, get a rugby player or two to go and knock on the door for you!
worked with Robbie Henshaw (an Irish rugby player) who had his laptop stolen, traced where it was and turned up with a few teammates and refused to leave until they got it back. Gardai turned up, laptop went back to rightful owner and rugby players were told they shouldn't encourage people to invite their local team out to get stolen goods back!

A few months ago a friends dog went missing and someone thought they'd seen it on a local 'site'. Friend contacted police who said she shouldn't go there alone she would need police in attendance but they didn't have time. I spoke to a very close friend who is both a PC (out of my area) and a dog lover. Her advice was tell the police you're going anyway with or without them. Go to the site and tell them you want to see the suspect dog and that you've told the police you are there. If they threaten you dial 999 - police will be there in a shot. Friend said they won't touch you they aren't that stupid.

When my friend told the police she was going on her own they suddenly found the resource to go with her. They did show her the dogs but her dog wasn't there unfortunately.

I'm not sure if that helps you in your situation but there may be something you can take from that advice.

I e-mailed him last week - still waiting. (He was much quicker replying when I e-mailed him about his request for my vote, lol.) And that was before THIS incident. I'd had one attempted theft (of my trailer) which I accidentally foiled: they arrived just as I was goig down to do a check on foaling mares - 5am.) I rang the police then - I KNEW which people of a certain ethnic minority had been and told them in no uncertain terms. Those thieves sole a brand new trailer tent less than an hour later on the road back fom us to Bewdley. The second time I didn't bother reporting - it was a battery theft! Inside knowledge as the guy had tried out for a job 2 days earlier, left as 'unsuitable' after 2 hours having tried to sell the staff cheap wormers!!! They got 2 good batteries, a duff one, failed on another - the only other thing they got was my brand new HD bolt cutters!!
