How did your first lesson go??

Aww thanks for asking - I was just about to post!

It was brilliant! I have had Jerry for 9 months and done a bit of schooling in the field but I have NEVER ridden him like I did tonight!! Now I know what a contact is - I understand a lot more about 'outside rein, inside leg' and I realise what a real responsive and well-schooled boy he is!
We only did walk and trot exercises (after a little canter round so she could assess me) but I really felt like I had achieved a lot today.
My instructor thought he had excellent paces and thought he was a real bargain at £3500. She thought my position was good (!) although I was a little behind his movement (we blamed the saddle for that!).
I really enjoyed it and I needn't have been nervous - looking forward to my next lesson in a fortnight.

It has definitely helped me - and was very encouraging.

After about 10 mins of working him, he was going REALLY well, working on the bit and really stepping through and my instructor said 'Now - there's your dressage horse!'.

That was a really encouraging comment and has inspired me to do a bit of practising before my next lesson.
