After a chat with my OH just wondered what sort of £ people have left over roughly per month after paying for all household bills and their horse/s??

nosey i know... :p

Not much really! We have a decent sized mortgage and a car each, and no kids yet. I pay for half of all bills, half the mortgage, my car, diesel etc and one horse on livery. Whatever I have left gets spent on... erm.... more horsey stuff (competing, tack, rugs, clothing for me, etc) ?
We manage one meal out a month, about one night on the town, I avoid the high street so I don;t spend much on clothes, and annual holidays are paid for by the savings I have left over from profit I made on the sale of my first house.

I am getting married in July and have saved exactly... £0 so far... Thankfully my car loan will be paid off in January so I can save that money towards the wedding... and after that I'm gonna save up for a trailer!!!!

You have to work out your priorities!!!!!!!!!!!!

not a lot! :)

But i have a mortgage, Mini and 2 x horses on full livery and am in my early 20's so can't expect to be rolling in cash.

any spare goes on horsey 'stuff.' at the moment i am after a new dressage saddle (my poor OH just rolls his eyes now!)

slightly off topic but heres a suggestion for all of us payed monthly...........get your wages payed into your savings account, then set this up for the mortgage and what ever monthly bills, then work out how much you have left and pay this into current account weekly and then live with this weekly budget.................but here is the catch under pay yourself and this is a hassel free way of saving. i use to do this when i was a postgrad all those years ago,

Nothing and sometimes end up within my free overdraft limit. I have managed through strict budgetting this year on reduced income to currently pay my mortgage, run a car and have horse (1 pony on DIY livery), has meant no holiday and v limited social life. I have a small safety cushion but it's getting smaller. Not sure what next year will bring but I have some options.

Urgh...i am pennyless at the best of times.
I have a mortgage, 3 horses (DIY), 2 dogs a lorry and a car and noooo money at the end of the month! I thinks it's a catch 22, no horses = money in bank = unhappy you or horses = no money = happy you! I stive for the latter!
In Feb next year we are buying another house (= even less money!) and planning to put a small yard (3 boxes and a tack room) in, so i will save £260 a month straight away, plus with renting out original house i may. for the first time in years be in the +£ stakes at the end of the month...but i doubt that very much as i have 2 horses doing BE next year!
Advice is life is too short, your better off than most with a house, horse and car so carry on enjoying it, you never know what is around the corner :)

usually nothing. its taken me nearly a year to put away some savings, all of £150 so far,and some of that will be going on annual vaccinations next month. no xmas ,again, for us this year. edited to add, i've already maxed the free overdraft limit this month ,which is all of £200. I've no mortgage now and the kids are grown up,but it hasnt got anybetter,in fact its all getting harder and harder. the horses are foals so arnt shod and we dont compete anymore. I look back whistfully ay those halcyin days when i had a land rover and trailer and we went to shows and things. not never no more,we've no pention either, other than the state pension to come. its despirate.

Absolutely nothing, nada, zero.

My OH owns the house we live in, I am merely a lodger,so I don't even have property in my name. I have two horses on DIY. If it weren't for a huge horsebox bill last year and a £6500 vets bill (still rising!) I might have some left, but everything goes onto the credit cards and then I pay off what I can. New Years resolution is to start trying to manage my money a bit better - Aldi and Netto here I come!!

not a lot at all! :( depresses me

i have a house, 2 cars- one for towing (which costs me a bomb to insure and run!)and another is a lease car from work, one horse and a step son who stays with us 5 days a week (his mum wants money from us for looking after him for two days!)

however i think i am doing ok for a 27yo and despite being in a very fed up of being penniless mood today ( just paid £1100 vet bill after nasty wound my boy received and have a further £380 for my late mares fees to be paid off!) i will continue to struggle on and must really start buying lotto tickets! life really is short and you may as well enjoy it!

off to internet shop on credit cards :D

LOL and splurts coffee all over computer. Does anyone remember the poster who used to get the groom to put Derby House deliveries into the oven (!) as her husband didnt look in there?

Sod all is the answer, I am literally left with about £10 by the end of the month and I am so careful with every penny now as well, I keep spreadsheets of everything! We literally just bought our house in October(had car and horse already) so I need to be careful with my pennies  :D

A big fat zero. I have several mortgages, which are buy to lets plus our massive mega mortgage on our home, two horses on part livery, car is not an issue as paid for by business. I used to earn considerably more than OH hence all my commitments - he gets the rental income - dont go there, it makes my blood boil. Both me and my business partner are in dispute with a soon to be ex business partner and cant draw hardly any income from the business we own together. Long story, dont want to talk much about it as it will go to court, but if it wasnt for ebay christmas would be cancelled. Only manage to sort our BE and soon BSJA activities as company sponsors Mini TX's equestrian activites in return for advertising. Am very pissed off! The only good thing to have come out of this year is the fact that I dont have to pay tax at 40%. Every cloud etc ...... Wouldnt be without my horses though, they keep you sane, even if you are skint.

Not a lot!!

I have to pay my half of the mortgage, bills etc. Run my car (which kinda keeps threatening to die on me but I've so far convinced it to keep going - it's not even that old!!). Plus up to fairly recently I had 5 horses. Not at livery (my nan has a couple of acres and 2 stables). Am down to 3 horses at the moment though but just had to shell out £1000 to pay for a resit exam course (work related) and had a huge (£2600) lorry bill last year.

The credit card has taken a battering and I fear it may take a while to repay!
