Farrier advice?

I've recently moved yards and got my new horse shod before I left
(First week in nov roughly)
New yard farrier comes every 2nd Monday
Got him to check my boy middle of dec
Said he didn't need shod n shoes were good

Got him to check again this week
I was thinking he def needs shod as 7weeks since last being shod
n farrier not back for another two weeks
But has again said his feet haven't grown much n will b fine until next time

Starting to think that this is too long n he must need shod

When he was out 24/7 needed done every 6 weeks
Now he's in full time but gets out 2-3 hrs in outdoor / indoor/ small field paddock each day with company

What do u think? Is it possible he's feet are just growing slower?

I gave noticed him a bit trippy past few days for first 10 mins of schooling n was thinking defo needs feet done

Starting to wonder if new farrier is any good ?!
He does the riding school 50 horses and all but one livery out of 15 ish ?!
 
Its possible - feet do grow more slowly at this time of the year; FLF has now gone 6 weeks & I moved her appt from today to 10 days time as she really doesn't need doing (and is shod all round) as clenches tight, foot growth is at about 4 weeks (not 6) and shoes still good to go :)

If horse IS tripping, do get a 2nd opinion on the feet - and also get someone to assess how you & horse are working as perhaps you need to work horse through from behind a little more to lighten the front end?
 
Maybe ring him and mention that you're horse is tripping and see what he says, my farrier doesn't do my horses fronts everytime as his feet don't grow massively but always does them by 9 weeks or so....if you arent totally satisfied, look around for another farrier. I went through 3/4 farriers before i found my present one, who is great, explains everything and answers all my dumb blonde questions!
 
The farrier may be good but if he does 50 RS horses he may be used to trying to shoe less frequently to reduce costs for the yard, most will need doing every 6 weeks or thereabout but if they can go a week or so longer the savings on 50 over a year will be immense, I would speak to him and say you are concerned regarding the tripping, that you are happy to shoe more frequently for the benefit of your horse and then book a regular slot.
The long term health of your horse is going to benefit from his toes being kept short and the foot balanced properly.
 
There dosent seem to be much growth in his feet n have had instructor check n she said should b I for 10 ish days yet

Just concerned the tripping is usually indicator

Ride in the outdoor and he's not tripping there
So mayb indoor surface?
Just panicked I'm so particular about his feet n just want to make sure farrier is right

He seemed stiff on Monday but had loose jumped on Sunday so thought maybe just stiff

He's 7 and he has been brought in gradually
Over ten weeks from out 24/7 to in at night to then in with 2-3 hrs turnout each day as ridden at lead 5 times per week

Has practically ad lb haylage n he's a god doer but still gets hard feed for token really
