My mare never looses shoes but with all the wet weather has lost a shoe off the same foot 3 times in 6 weeks. The last time she pulled a chunk of hoof wall off with it. The shoe was put on again last thurs and it had to be nailed higher up to hold it on. She is now slightly lame on that foot. I contacted my farrier and he said that she needs to grow some more hoof and to wait until he next comes out to her. I can't leave her barefoot as she gets sore then anyway but I can't stand seeing her lame until her foot grows! She has no heat and no pulse in the foot.

Sounds like nail bind.

Healthy feet are the product of a healthy diet and lifestyle. If she's sore barefoot I'd imagine she doesn't have healthy feet. What's her diet and management like?

She's always had a pretty poor off fore. It's smaller than her near fore and tends to get flair on the inside wall. She is an arab and a good doer so I tend to be careful with her food intake. She has unmollassed chaff with mag ox and a vit and min supplement. Out during the day in a baldish paddock and in at night with hay.
