I'm in Cambs. and our farrier is £20 trim, £40 half set, £60 full set (plus if he's down at the yard he'll do a quick tidy up of clenches/ hoof edges for free between sets)
Northwest - old blacksmith £50/ set with road nails and stud holes - free replacements of lost shoes, but shod too long. New blacksmith £65, but great job. Don't yet know if he charges for lost shoes or stud holes!
£50.00 full set including road nails (if ask nicely) is what my own charges, although he's putting his prices up soon but I don't care, I'll pay what ever he wants to charge, because he's a good farrier.
£65.00 full set (not including road nails) for the other farrier that comes to our yard (the big ginger loan horse's own farrier before I asked if I could switch to my own..not due to price might I add, I had my reasons!)
I'm in Essex and pay £70 for full set of natural balance with road nails and a stud hole in each foot. Should be much more than that but have used same farrier for 10 years or more and he doesn't me charge extra for the natural balance shoes or stud holes bless him! He does always get as many cups of coffee as he can drink and when it's warm he even gets an ice cream of some sort
Mine's been on working livery for the past two years; the yard gets a concessionary rate of £50 for full set which is done regularly every 6 weeks - the owner pays half of this.
I'm taking him away from working livery at the end of this month so then I shall be subject to "normal" farriery fees, so ....... gawd knows but prepare for a shock I guess!
I'm in oxfordshire and mine are £60 per full set, with £1 per stud hole and then VAT on top of that aswell. But don't have to pay for lost shoes, and he will usually come and put one on that day for me.
£75 a set plus travel and VAT, £25 for a trim. Lost shoes put back on for free (only lost 2 in 7 years!) and within 24 hours. Very experienced and knowledgeable farrier.
Cheshire - Remedial Farrier and £20 for a trim, £65 for set of shoes £40 for fronts only.
Farrier is great and waiting list for him to take clients on. He even told me within one stride that my horse had laminitis when it took the vets 3 weeks!!!
I love that fact that he puts hoof moist/protector on after he's finished.
His Jack Russel's help out with the mice/rats while they are down there...there ace and deffo catch more than the 4 yard cats!!!!
