Also curious, as copper is very soft, malliable metal. I can't see how copper would hold a shoe on.

The super-fashionable copper nails are actually just copper coated. I'm more intrigued by what that farrier means by better clenches!

My previous farrier charged a travel fee of £10.00 although he only lived 10 mins up the road & shod all people around me on the same day. My new one also charges but £5.00 but has a 30 min journey but again does all local to me on the same day.

My farrier offers copper coated nails for £5 if I want.
The benefits are meant to be like soaking foot in copper sulphate to treat infection in nail holes. Many hooves have slight infection at site of nail holes and copper nails form weak equivalent of copper sulphate in nail holes and help treat / prevent nail hole infection.
As said they are copper coated as pure copper too soft.
They've shown good results when tested.
