£20 for a trim and has been since farrier qualified 10 years ago! I was one of his first clients, I give him lots of custom and he lives round the corner. I don’t know what he charges others.

My farrier has just increased prices from £25 to £30 for a trim. Just wondering what others pay? He is a great farrier and I'm not looking to change, but I'm on a tight budget too. Just interested to know what the going rate is.

Ouch! Does he only do one trim when he comes to you? My farrier is absolutely fantastic - I have him every week. Sometimes just 2 or 3 trims, sometimes more - and the odd set of new shoes or refits. Doesn't matter if there IS oly one: £22 per trim, £65 for refits and £70 for a new set. He has incredible patience with the young ones - and never minds when the mouthy ones try to undress him, lol.

£30 for a trim, and £50 to trim draft horses. I thought that was quite a lot given he does two draft and one other in one visit. Then he disappeared on me! Now use a bare foot trimmer who charges £40 regardless of the size of horse. He is MUCH better than any farrier that I have had. Takes the time to get it right, addresses frog and bars and wall, and adjusts the balance of the hoof. Very patient so my heavy Clydesdale behaves much better and takes the time to do a complete job. He has transformed my Clydesdale compared to anyone else who has done her hooves and she is a much better horse as a result, and has become much easier to trim as a result. I would seriously recommend a properly trained barefoot trimmer.
I’ve never comprehended the reason why someone would choose to pay a barefoot trimmer £40, over a farrier, who trains for 7 years, £25? go figure ?‍♀️

My farrier is vat registered and is £35 per trim, I’m sure I could find someone cheaper but he keeps everyone sound and competing barefoot so he’s worth it.

I've been paying £30 for a farrier trim for several years now and think it's worth every penny. I'm another who is not of barefoot trimmers - I don't like the fact they are not regulated by law and I don't have time for the endless waffle and photos they seem to go in for.
