Well After my boys problem with his hoof this week for those who didnt see original post be has taken a chunk of the inside of a front, so all week it has been covered and padded the. An overreach boot over that on my farrier's advice, he is coming today to look at it and decide if to shoe or not sob sob in all the years I've had him he has only had one set of shoes as I prefer natural but have to do what is best for him.
Sorry pointless post but sharing makes it easier

The only conclusion we can come to is that he has done this in the field and there are a lot of stones. also the ground is getting harder and we are about to start doing more road work, yes I could go down the boots route but he is a nightmare and I doubt they would last five mins, and after a very long discussion with my farrier who I must add has been my farrier for a long time and I trust him without question agrees that now might be the time he has shoes on. I am hoping in winter to take them off again once the ground has given a little.

Believe me no light choices taken with this.

Thank you for the links I will have a good look at those also

Ok so the farrier has been it was an abcess that has burst, I feel very bad as there was no heat and no lameness before it burst or after well a little short but nothing to make us think abcess, it was not smelly nor did we see any gunk. poor boy big cuddles for him as he now has a massive gap in his hoof and shoes to protect him.
