As some of you will remember I have a horse who has been fighting a severe foot infection . Well last Monday the vet said we needed the farrier to look at the foot i called my farrier Dan Brown straight away, he talked through the treatment with the vet and he was with me within 2 hours! He had a look did as much as he could - this involved rasping and cutting away some of the top of the hoof to relieve pressure. He took pictures of the foot which he emailed to me. He was then back again the next day having been to buy specialist tools and shoe and spent 2 hours putting 3 new shoes on and one specialist shoe which he had to take great care over to avoid causing the horse more pain, he helped me clean the wound gave me a supply of iodene and has even texted since to see how the boy is getting on. He charged me a very reasonable amount for all the time he has spent, its such a refreshing change to have someone try their best for me and my horse and not rip me off!:):

That is lovely to hear, totally agree, some of them get so up themselves you can't even get them on the phone until they're good and ready and then turn up when it suits them! I have a great farrier, well he will be I am about to start using him but he does 2 other friends horses on the yard and is excellent. He is so helpful that even though I am only to be a new client he talked through a pre purchase query I had on my new horse, then phoned the sellers farrier at a pre arranged time from his holiday in Portugal to check something out for me, phoned me with his opinion, which was positive, and then text to see how the subsequent vetting went. Upon his return at the end of the week he phoned me to see when mare would need shoeing and what the vet had said and he is now coming out this week. I think that is above and beyond what you would expect but so reassuring I will be recommending him to anyone who wants a farrier in our area. Pete G, you are a diamond!!!

Our farrier is the same, its so nice and refreshing to find a nice farrier!
Our girl has had pedal bone rotation, and continuous laminitis due to Cushings and he has been out to her every 4 weeks, shoeing her with heart bar shoes and reshaping her feet to make her more comfortable. He's brilliant with her and texts to check she's okay, etc.
We did have a farrier years ago who used to pop in to check her if he was in the area!
