Farrier hit horse in head with hammer

I've just read this. He can still trim hooves during the suspension and had quite a few good reviews from customers. What he did deserved a strike off imo. It doesn't matter how angry he got. If he did that he's clearly not the right temperament to be around horses.

We had a farrier last year that punched my barn wall when he the pony he was trimming stood on his foot. I thought that was bad enough, as it showed he had a temper. He will never come back
on my yard. 😡

If he hit my horse, he would either never walk again or never work, either one would be fine
 
A farrier belted my two year old under his belly several times some years ago. I would have reported him but had no witnesses only me and him. Farrier was shaking with anger 🤬. I sacked him of course. I've since sacked other farrier too I have zero policy of violence towards my horses. I use barefoot trimmers now I just don't trust farriers anymore. Thank goodness for hoof boots.
 
I had a farrier years ago called Norkie, he would talk so much holding leg up that horse got fidgety and then he hit my mare with a hammer. I could not be there after than when he shod, later I changed farriers, I was young and naive.
 
Personally i would not put shoes on a 3 year old. I would also be there with the farrier with one so young. That is me, I would never leave a farrier on his own unless I knew him well and knew the horse was happy and did not need me around for confidence. This is despicable, and that poor horse will prob never trust a farrier again.

I would also tap the horses feet for many weeks before the farrier actually nailed on.
 
nope shocking i don't own but like to follow people on here have seen many farriers up Edinburgh way area do this so not a surprise would never allow it if i was on yard but its common i know of a yard asks pony's to be cut short so they are under they cm for show classes same farriers that hit pony's was a shit show

feck Av admitted that i watched and new no better well known show person as well

He’s local to me.

Experienced friends of mine have used him for decades and have highly recommended him. I think he’s got a lot of very long standing customers.

The video is horrendous.

I’m pretty sure his son is a qualified farrier, so maybe he will do more? I think anyone can remove shoes.
