Heather's farrier, Dave Hodgson is retiring next May, so I have to look for a new farrier. Dave has shod her since she was three or four, as has always cold shod his clients. Heather is now 23, and all the other carriers in the area seem to hot shoe. Do you think she'll accept this at her age?

Have you spoken to other farriers re the cold shoeing? My farrier cold shoes my older TB, but the younger one was hot shod when he needed shoes for 9 months following keratoma surgery on one of his front feet. IMO a good farrier will be able to do both, depending on what the horse needs.

Most farriers are familiar cold shoeing. My OH hot shoes but also spent two years of his apprenticeship on racing yards cold shoeing. Most are fine to do it.
